Batter up! The Somerset Toastmasters is holding a special speech contest to honor our local baseball team, The Somerset Patriots, on June 16 at noon at the Franklin Township Library on DeMott Lane. The public is invited to attend this special contest and participate. The prize will be a pair of baseball tickets supplied by the Somerset Patriots. “The goal of our club is to have fun while learning public speaking skills,” says Donna Juzva, club president, “We like to do a special meeting every so often that celebrates the season. We thought, what says summer more than baseball?” “And, since we have such a great baseball team right in our own back yard,” Donna continues, “We contacted The Somerset Patriots. They were very happy to supply tickets. So, not only will the contest member win a gift certificate for a pair of tickets but a lucky audience member will win one as well.” The club's vice president of education, Mary McGinley, explained how the contest would work: “The contest will be during the section of our meeting that we call Table Topics. This is a time when participants are asked a question and given an opportunity to speak off-the-cuff for 1 to 2 minutes to answer that question.” Read more about Somerset Toastmasters on myCentralJersey.com |
